“There must have been moments even that afternoon when Daisy tumbled short of his dreams—not through her own fault, but because of the colossal vitality of his illusion. It had gone beyond her, beyond everything. He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion, addition to it all the time. . . . No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly heart“. Gatsby had done too much thinking and had too many plans and unrealistic expectations for Daisy. I enjoyed that they were finally able to reconnect after so long but it’s upsetting Gatsby’s hopes are too high and his disappoint will probably cause issues. It was interesting to see Gatsby opened up so fast to Daisy after so long and said everything for having such a mysterious reputation. An example he mention the green light when he spoke to her at his house showing he had been watching more than her. Gatsby had so many luxurious things, things that Daisy didn’t have because they were old money, but Gatsby is new and spends a lot more and frequently. There is love but subtle tension from her not being able to keep up with his anticipated illusions. Life in the 20s was different because even in the rich there was a difference and Nick had them over for tea something not very traditional like that now.
