“By the next autumn she was gay again, gay as ever. She had a debut after the Armistice, and in February she was presumably engaged to a man from New Orleans. In June she married Tom Buchanan of Chicago, with more pomp and circumstance than Louisville ever knew before. He came down with a hundred people in four private cars, and hired a whole floor of the Seelbach Hotel, and the day before the wedding he gave her a string of pearls valued at three hundred and fifty thousand dollars” (Fitzgerald 75).
Tom won over Daisy with his wealth and this is a clear quotation representing that. Deep down Daisy has been in love with Gatsby
I chose my imagine because it shows an emotional Gatsby and there was a lot of emotions and details told in this chapter between Gatsby and Daisy and their past. I really enjoyed learning about their past and how they came to be. Gatsby was so taken by Daisy. I predict Daisy won’t be upset when Gatsby arrives at Nicks during tea. Their relationship will finally begin to expand. Gatsby’s past is very interesting and he is a very intriguing character. Life in 1920s seems like the wealthy are corrupt, Gatsby doesn’t even receive a speeding ticket due to his title. Nick also learns somewhat about the way Gatsby earns his salary
