Chapter 8

“[P]erhaps [Gatsby] no longer cared. If that was true he must have felt that he had lost the old warm world, paid a high price for living too long with a single dream.” Gatsby was hit with a brutal reality for dreaming to long and fantasizing his return with Daisy too much.

This is a picture of Gatsby’s death scene, it shows his bloody air mattress which at this point Wilson was also dead. I disliked that Gatsby was murdered I don’t like that their story ended this way. Tom was Mrytles lover and he should’ve taken responsibility. Even if Wilson had never found out about her having an affair than I think he would’ve let Daisy go. I predict Daisy will become extremely upset and Nick whom had grown very fond of Gatsby is going to be very emotionally stirred. Nicks mind was running after he met with Gatsby and he discussed his true feelings about Daisy and how he wasn’t who he said he was. He admits his wrong doings. This relates to the beginning when Nick talks about always keeping an open mind and not judging and it’s hard to not judge in this moment. But Gatsby did a good thing being honest about himself and truly opening up. Gatsby wanted to be worthy of Daisy thus he felt he needed to be upper class so he gained all this money and bought a beautiful house for her. There is a chilling theme emerging over the text and in to the next chapter.
